The ArcMail program is designed to read your local inbox and allow you to extract messages with a search criteria. It does not access your ISP or the internet - only the local mail client. It uses MAPI so it only knows about your inbox - not any other folders. When I ran it, I created a temp folder, then moved the contents of my inbox to the temp folder. I then copied the messages from my listserver's folder to the inbox. This also had the added benefit of giving me a backup copy in case of problems. When I was done, I moved the messages in temp back to inbox and deleted the temp folder.
The filename field is required - it is the extract filename. If you enter test, the files created will be test1.txt, test2.txt, test3.txt etc. The criteria field is not required - without it, all messages will be extracted. Play with the search string for the results you want. If the delete check box is checked, the program will delete each message after archiving. You will want to test the program extensively before using the automatic delete.
The files will be created in the same directory (folder) as the ArcMail program resides in - probably C:\Program Files\ArcMail. They can be moved anywhere you wish, as can the executable. Each time you test, you need to delete the extract files or you will have duplicate messages in the files.
The program has been tested with several version of Microsoft IE. It should work with any MAPI mail program (which is most).
MailFind will search extract files from ArcMail for the criteria entered. It works on an exact match, spacing, punctuation etc. The extract files must exist in the same directory (folder) as the executable. You may have several copies in different folders to organize your extracts.
Download these files to a temporary directory. Unzip and then run the setup. If you do not already have Visual Basic programs on your PC, you will also need the run time files. The run time file is Vbrun60.exe when unzipped. Run Vbrun60.exe to install.
